The Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital started in April 1986. It was one of seven hospitals the Delhi government planned. These hospitals had 100 beds each and were part of a special plan for the health of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe people during the 6th five-year plan. The main aim was to give medical care to people who lived in areas that had been changed, like Mangol Puri, Sultan Puri, Nangloi, and more.
