The National Health Mission (NHM) is a government program in India that started in 2013. Its main goal is to make sure people in both cities and the countryside can get good healthcare that they can afford. NHM brings together two older programs, one for rural areas and one for urban areas, to work together better. Its important aims are to reduce the number of mothers and children who die, make sure more people get vaccines, fight diseases that can spread easily, help families plan how many children they want, make healthcare better in rural places, and give better healthcare to people who need it the most.
