It was started in 1940 and is very important because it makes aeroplanes, helicopters, engines, and other things for flying. They design new planes like the HAL Tejas and HAL Dhruv and also make existing planes better. They're good at making engines too, like the Shakti engine for helicopters. HAL helps the country by making technology for defence and flying, and they have many places where they work, with their main office in Bangalore. They're a big part of India's plan to be self-reliant in aerospace technology.

For OBC candidates: 3 years
For SC/ ST candidates: 5 years
For PwD Candidates: 10 years
Note: The Upper Age Limit is relaxable by 5 years in respect of the candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period of 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989.
